Why do applicants fill out your Profile request
form, instead of my employees?
Because it’s most efficient and
accurate, and affords you the best protections under the law. Check
with the people who process your applicants. They will tell you that
they need help shortening the process, not adding to it.
What steps are taken to ensure my employee’s privacy?
The only way to obtain any
information from Guardscreen is to produce a request for profile,
signed by the individual. Guardscreen never has and never will make
use of its database for any other purpose, nor will any information
in the database be sold or released to any other company for any
other purpose.
How do I know that my competitor(s) won’t try to recruit my
employees from your profile?
They can’t - the only way to obtain a
Guardscreen Profile© is by sending Guardscreen the Profile request
form. Besides, a profile lists only the applicant’s name, SS# and
employment history. It doesn’t list home address, phone numbers,
etc.; there’s no contact info for the employee. So, if your
competitor is sending us a Profile request, your employee has
already gone to that company and applied for a position.
How do I know that you won’t reveal my employee information to
someone else?
The only way to get a Guardscreen
Profile© is to send us the Profile request form. And the only
information on the profile is the applicant’s employment history
within this industry. Guardscreen will not sell, rent or otherwise
reveal this information, and each Client agrees it will use
Guardscreen only for the express stated purpose.
My clerical employees are afraid
that if my company uses Guardscreen’s services, they could lose
their jobs.
Nothing could be further from the
truth. Using Guardscreen will free them to perform other tasks,
instead of overloading them, and let them focus on other issues.
Think about this- for every applicant who walks through your door,
if you’re serious about hiring him, you’ve got to verify his
employment history. That means sending out letters to former
employers, and waiting for a response – which could take days,
weeks, or even months. Using Guardscreen gets you that info within
the security industry within 24 hours, and if you’re able to verify
employment history within the industry, you may not have to send out
those letters.
Conversely, when an employee leaves your company, every time he or
she applies to another company for employment, that generates a
letter to you for verification of employment. If she applies to six
companies the week after she leaves you, that’s 6 letters you have
to respond to. Suppose eight months from then she goes out looking
again, say another 4 companies. And if six months after that she
applies to 4 more companies, that’s at least three different times
within an 18 month period you have to look up that info, to respond
to 14 companies. And that’s just one person. Now, multiply that
by the number of employees who don’t work for you anymore...
Now think about this – if you’re out at a job fair, with dozens of
people submitting applications, you haven’t the time to go over each
one in depth; you collect the apps and make appointments for these
people to come to your office so you can interview them. Imagine
being able to, from the job fair location, fax a Guardscreen
Profile© request, and having each applicant’s employment history
waiting for you when you come into your office the next morning….
I’m concerned about releasing sensitive information to
Guardscreen (outside of my company).
This is a major reason why we don't
allow on-line access to our clients. We are in control of who
receives this information, and the only info we ask for is your
employee’s name, SS #, dates of employment and where available,
reason for leaving for your former employees. Your payroll company
and health insurance companies have far more personal info, such as
date of birth, home address and phone number, medical condition(s),
etc., in their files.
Couldn’t we get sued for releasing our files?
To date, not one of our clients ever
has been. A profile request gives permission for the company the
person is applying to conduct a background investigation and verify
employment. It also releases all former employers from any
liability in doing so.
