| You're ready to hire a new guard or security
officer. You check his references: one security services agency is out of business, and a
woman who answered the phone at his other reference would reveal nothing and confirm only
the dates you gave her. This man came across as being okay, so you decide to take a chance
on him. A few weeks later, one of your clients complains about missing
property/equipment/products. Your security officer doesn't show, doesn't call. Your calls
to his home number get you a wrong number or a recording that this number is out of
service. Two days later his record comes back from the State Police and the news is not
good... Or... He says he's just gotten out of school
and has worked some part-time or temporary jobs. There are some gaps, which he explains by
saying he stopped work to catch up on his studies. He says he's never worked for a
security services company before. You check him out and his references seem to be okay.
You decide to take chance on him. A week later he sets fire to your client's facility,
causing numerous lawsuits, criminal charges and the kind of bad publicity that can put you
out of business...
The following week you're at an association meeting with
your counterpart from another company. This guard's name comes up in conversation. Your
counterpart says, "Why didn't you call me? I could have told you all about him. His
criminal record came back from the State Police a week after we fired him. I wish I'd
known he went to you; we could have saved you all this grief."
But... How could you know he worked at another
security company if he didn't list it on his application?
Well, now there's a way to know: GUARDSCREEN!
